Former PSG defender Bernard Mendy believes Neymar is a step up from Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Mendy is convinced Neymar is a better fit for PSG than the Manchester United striker.

He explained to Ultimo Diez: "The best PSG of the Qatari era? Yes I think so, Zlatan was taking a lot of space even though I think Neymar will do the same.

"Neymar is perhaps a notch above and especially this year he is not the only one to score. There is good group cohesion. Now they have to go as far as possible in the Champions League. This is what we all hope as Parisians, even as French supporters apart from Marseille and Lyonnais.

"The PSG version 2017-2018? I was a little skeptical at first, I was waiting for the big Champions League matches like the match against Bayern but in the end it went pretty well.

"So apart from the draw against Montpellier with extenuating circumstances such as the absence of Neymar and the impracticable pitch, I think they are on the right track."
