Former Portsmouth winger Steve Stone says Paul Hart is the right man in charge at Fratton Park.
The Geordie told The News: "I think Paul is a bloke you want to play for. He's really organised in what he does, he knows what he's trying to do and he always achieves what he is aiming for.
"I saw at first hand his strengths when I was a reserve-team player at Forest and he always had the physical and mental attributes to be a football league manager. He's a big bloke, quite commanding and quite stern. He wouldn't take any nonsense from the players and that has a big impact sometimes, it commands instant respect.
"Paul has probably felt unlucky over the years not to have had bigger and better jobs, because he's been highly thought of everywhere he's been. He's probably been looking for this chance for four or five years. Now, from being in the right place at the right time, he's got it and he won't let anyone down.
"I think it has been a great appointment and he'll keep Portsmouth up comfortably. He was a centre-half so knows how to defend, he played under Cloughie, had a good grounding and knows his stuff. He knows the game inside out."
