Ex-Portsmouth boss Adams urges Sunderland to go for Distin

Former Portsmouth boss Tony Adams has told Sunderland to buy Sylvain Distin.

The ex-Arsenal captain told the Shields Gazette: "If I was Steve Bruce I would sign him tomorrow.

"Sylvain might be in his 30s now, but he's still lightning fast, and I reckon he's still got another two or three years left in him at the highest level.

"He's certainly someone who is comfortably a top-half-of-the-table player, and if Sunderland are looking to bring in a player who can improve them, then he fits the bill."
