Ex-Palace boss Pulis seeks immediate Premier League return

Former Crystal Palace boss Tony Pulis is eager to quickly return to the Premier League.

The Mirror says the 56-year-old has told friends he is determined that the collapse of his working relationship with Palace chairman Steve Parish will not damage his long term career.

A friend said: "When Tony was out of work after leaving Stoke he enjoyed the chance to do some different things like travel to follow his interest in history.

"But this time he wants to return to work as soon as there is a good chance because he's hungry to stay in management at the top level.

"It was particularly annoying to read suggestions that the club didn't want to back Tony in the transfer market because of his style of playing.

"When he took over he had to work with the squad he inherited for the first few months because the window was closed, and the answer was to play with pace and power and be really quick through the pitch.

"The result was some fantastically exciting games and some brilliant nights at Selhurst Park that got the ground absolutely buzzing.

"It's funny - I don't remember anybody complaining about the style of play when Palace beat Chelsea near the end of the season, or won 3-2 at Everton, or drew 3-3 with Liverpool.

"People were saying that was one of the most exciting games seen at Selhurst Park in years."
