Former England defender Earl Barrett is joining the Academy staff at Stoke City.

The Sentinel says new Stoke academy chief Steve Holland has begun a shake-up behind the scenes by appointing former England defender Barrett and one-time Crewe and Port Vale defender Richard Walker to his part-time coaching staff.

Former Stoke favourite and ex-youth team coach Ian Cranson has left his part-time coaching position at Stoke, while former Vale winger Kevin Kent has also been released after a couple of seasons coaching youngsters in the academy.
