Ex-Notts County striker Rodgers nominated for MLS Newcomer of the Year

New York Red Bulls striker Luke Rodgers has been nominated for the 2011 MLS Newcomer of the Year award.

The former Notts County man scored nine goals in 23 regular season appearances in his debut season for the Red Bulls as well as opening his play-offs account with a goal in the Conference semi-final loss to LA Galaxy.

Rodgers has been named alongside Vancouver Whitecaps forward Eric Hassli and Seattle Sounders midfielder Mauro Rosales with the winner to be announced on November 15.
