Ex-Newcastle striker Quinn shocked by Kinnear appointment

Former Newcastle United striker Mick Quinn is shocked by this week's events at St James' Park.

Quinn feels for Alan Pardew after the appointment of Joe Kinnear as new director of football.

He wrote in the Evening Chronicle: "It looks like he is being undermined, that is the worst thing somebody can do to somebody in football for me.

"This for me is 'jobs for the boys' from Mike Ashley.

"I don't want to slate Joe, he is a friendly bloke who I've met before, but I don't see this as a good fit in any way for Newcastle United.

"Let's first look at the facts, Joe hadn't been in football for four years before he arrived at St James' Park as manager - and he hasn't been since he left either.

"I don't see how he has the credentials to do the top job.

"He's come in and already he has run the risk of upsetting some of the players, I mean "Yohan Kebab", come on man!

"It's hardly the best start to his new role, is it?"
