Joey Barton is not about to leave QPR to join Sunderland because he could 'never play for the Mackems'.
The 31-year old Manchester City and Marseille midfielder has emerged as a possible target for the Black Cats this winter but made it clear that he could never go there after spending four years with Tyne-Wear rivals Newcastle United.
In response to the speculation, Barton used his Twitter page to essentially reject any possible offer that might come his way from the Stadium of Light.
Me to 5under1and? Somehow I just don't think so. I value the time I spent at NUFC.

I value the relationship I have with the toon army to this day. I could never play for the Mackems. It wouldn't be right.
