Former Leeds United and Newcastle United striker Michael Bridges has announced his retirement.

Bridges has announced he will end his illustrious playing career following the conclusion of Australian side Newcastle Jets' 2013/14 Hyundai A-League campaign.

The attacking midfielder scored twice in 22 appearances for the Tigers.

35-year-old Bridges played 19 seasons as a professional, competing in all four tiers of English football, before finishing his career down under with the Jets.

Bridges went on to have stints at Newcastle United, Bolton, Bristol City, Carlisle United, the Tigers, Sydney FC and MK Dons before signing with the Jets.
