Former Newcastle United goalkeeper Pavel Srnicek has slammed comparisons between Alan Shearer and Tottenham striker Harry Kane.

Srnicek wrote in the Evening Chronicle: "There has been a lot of hype around Harry Kane, who I saw mentioned as possibly the next Alan Shearer.

"I think that he has a lot of work to do before he gets anywhere close to that. He was very quiet in that game and not like the Shearer that I used to know, who would make sure he was involved in a game even if it was passing him by.

"I don't think England will ever produce another player as good as him. He is Newcastle's and England's best ever striker in my opinion."
