Former Newcastle United fullback John Beresford has questioned the management of John Carver.

Beresford took issue with Carver accusing Mike Williamson of deliberately getting sent off at Leicester City.

"If I was Mike I would have been grabbing JC by the throat because I would never have that thrown at me as a player," Beresford told talkSPORT.

"Everything that could have gone wrong that day went wrong, what he said that was just emotion running high. It will be interesting to see how Mike will react."
