Ex-Newcastle chairman Shepherd remains in Mallorca mix

Former Newcastle United chairman Freddy Shepherd remains in the frame to takeover Real Mallorca.

The Sunday Sun says plumbing magnate Paul Davidson has failed to meet a 10-day deadline to come up with the 38 million Euros he agreed to pay for the La Liga club.

The judge in charge of cash-strapped Mallorca is now ready to annul that deal and seek a new buyer.

And Shepherd looks like the only credible candidate.

But the long-time Magpies supremo knows as much, and will only consider reviving his interest in Mallorca if there is a dramatic reduction in the club's asking price.

Shepherd would not pay more than 15 million Euros (£11.8 million) at the very most, despite Mallorca's promising start to the La Liga season.
