Former Newcastle United boss Glenn Roeder is delighted to see Steven Taylor called up to the England squad.
Taylor is in line for a first England cap against San Marino tomorrow night.
Roeder told the Evening Chronicle: "When you look at the centre-backs who have been called up since Steven became eligible to play for the senior side, you have to say that he can count himself unlucky not already have a number of caps. Steven's had some injury problems and some bad luck.
"It didn't help his cause for England when Newcastle were relegated.
"But he's been loyal to Newcastle and they've been loyal to him with injuries, so it is good news all round."
