Ex-Napoli, Hochst forward Bernardo eyeing MLS

Vincenzo Bernardo has confirmed that Major League Soccer is an option after finishing his contract in Austria.

The former Napoli forward is still under contract with Austrian third division club FC Hochst where he has scored seven goals in 17 appearances but says he is entertaining the thought of coming to MLS.

The New Jersey-born former USA U20 is looking to play the game professionally back in his homeland and confirms there is some interest in his abilities.

"For me, MLS has always been an option," Bernardo told the NY Post.

"The thought of being at home and playing soccer professionally is a great opportunity. At the moment, I can't say much in regards to contact with any clubs but I can confirm that I am interested in the idea of possibly playing in America.

"Once my contract ends with Hochst, I will be a free agent and in search for the right situation for me to move forward.

"At the moment, I am still undecided on where I want to play but I know that this experience with Hochst has definitely helped me take a step forward."
