Former Napoli coach Edy Reja has been named new manager of Hajduk Split.

"I have come to a club with great tradition and it was so exciting to be standing there in their trophy room," smiled the Italian tactician.

"We want to do well this season, work towards the future and next year try to win the title."

It is something of a return to his roots for Reja, whose family ties link him to Slovenia.

"The language will not be a problem, as I understand Slavic and speak it fairly well. In any case, players only need a few clear words and they all know the language of the football field."
