Ex-Millwall, QPR midfielder Bircham thrilled with R's role

Marc Bircham has spoken of his delight at being named the head of youth development at QPR.

The 34-year old former Millwall and R's midfielder previously held the youth development assistant job at Loftus Road but has now been upgraded to the elite squad where he will work alongside Glyn Hodges in overseeing the reserves and U21 sides.

"I am really pleased to take on this role," Bircham told the club's official website.

"With the new EPPP (Elite Player Performance Plan) system which has been brought in, it is an important part of the club's development.

"Having been so heavily involved with the youth set-up I always keep a close eye on how the lads are progressing, so it is great for me to continue working with them."
