Ex-Millwall, Leicester, Aalborg keeper Nielsen hoping to add to sole championship

Veteran goalkeeper Jimmy Nielsen is targeting just a second championship in his two-decade professional career.

The 36-year old Sporting Kansas City custodian was heavily involved in Aalborg BK's Danish Superliga title win back in 1999 and now 15 years later is looking to add to that the 2013 MLS Cup.

"I don't think I appreciated that [first] championship as much as I apparently should," he told MLSsoccer.com ahead of Saturday's cup final against Real Salt Lake at Sporting Park.

"It's like I said before, I thought that would be one out of many, and 15 years later I still have only that one championship. So it would be huge for the team. It would be huge for the organization, and it would be huge for me personally."

Of the match, the former Millwall, Leicester City and Vejle man added: "It's right here in front of us. There's 90 minutes between us and the championship.

"It doesn't get any closer. We'll do everything in our power to be the team standing with the trophy after the game."
