Ex-midfielder Petrov: Champions League should provide no fears for Celtic

Stiliyan Petrov believes former club Celtic should not be too awestruck when they contest the Champions League group stage this season.

The Bhoys have been drawn alongside Barcelona, AC Milan and Ajax in Group H of the 2013/14 competition but ex-midfielder Petrov suggests that Neil Lennon has a squad capable of producing positive results in Europe especially with the Celtic Park faithful behind them.

"It's a good group but Celtic should be very confident," Petrov told the Daily Record. "They have beaten these big sides before and I don't think it will be a problem.

"They are capable of beating the likes of Barcelona again, especially here at Celtic Park.

"Every team that comes here can expect to have the crowd on their backs. They will never have experienced anything like that. Every player who has played here say the crowd is so intimidating so Celtic will fancy their chances of going through."

He added: "I think Lenny, the players and the fans will fancy Celtic to go through. They won't give up until they are through."
