Afonso Alves has joined Qatari club Al Gaharafa it has been confirmed.
The 31-year old Brazilian striker was released by Al Rayyan earlier in the summer and has now signed a one-year deal with their Qatar Stars League rivals.
Former Middlesbrough forward Alves, who first moved to Qatar in 2009 when he signed with Al Sadd, was believed to be in talks with Al Wasl before joining Al Gharafa. He arrives at his new club after scoring 24 goals in 31 appearances for Al Rayyan.
