Luke Young believes he was right to make the summer switch from Middlesbrough as he strives to help Aston Villa break into the top four of the Premier League and challenge for UEFA Cup glory.

He said: "It is early days but this is what I came to the club for - European nights and doing well in the league at the minute and it's been a case of 'so far, so good'.

"I had tasted European football briefly at Tottenham. We played a Moldovan side in the first round and beat them but went out in the next round to Kaiserslautern.

"That was nine years ago so it's been a long wait to get another taste of it and I'm relishing it."
