DC United have released Australian striker Danny Allsopp after just one season with the club.

The 32-year old, who was a star with A-League club Melbourne Victory a few seasons back, has had his two-year contract prematurely terminated by the Washington outfit.

Allsopp experienced a tough term in MLS with limited game time and even though he was equal top on the club's league goalscoring list has been waived.

Early rumours suggests that Allsopp, who joined DC from Qatari club Al-Rayyan, may return to Melbourne to join the Victory but at this stage that is pure speculation.
