Former Olympique Marseille chief Jose Anigo says French football must ask itself serious questions over the success of Riyad Mahrez and N'Golo Kante with Leicester City.
Mahrez from Le Havre and Kante from SC Caen were both snapped up for bargain basement fees by the Foxes.
Anigo told France Football: "There are shortcuts that are sometimes performed poorly. Look for example the case of Riyad Mahrez and N'Golo Kanté, Ligue 1 could not, supposedly, retain or even further highlight them.
"Two of the best players in the Premier League were there, right next to us and we could not see anything. Why? C'mon ... In fact, the common point that I see in these two players is that they have escaped the standards of training in France. Because they may not be consistent with current standards, it was more difficult to get a place in France.
"Maybe these successes will still give ideas to recruiters from the Premier League. They will say, 'Why not continue to do our shopping in L1 since even not highly rated players can finish up winning with us'.
"Good for the players involved, and too bad for the looted clubs ..."
