Ex-Man Utd youngster Eckersley: Beckham a great role model

Toronto FC full-back Richard Eckersley is looking forward to his first meeting with Manchester United great David Beckham.

The 22-year old, who spent about four years at Old Trafford, is on loan to Toronto from English club Burnley and preparing for the Canadian clubs clash with LA Galaxy on the weekend.

Galaxy star Beckham had already moved on to Real Madrid by the time Eckersley had stepped into the senior team at United but the Salford-born former Red Devils youth knows very well what the ex-England captain brings to the table.

"When he was there, I was only a youngster," said Eckersley. "We all know his capabilities and he was a role model for all footballers."

But Eckersley is not getting carried away with the Beckham influence as it is just another game that Toronto will set out to win.

"It's all business," Eckersley added. "We just think about the game and just think about the points that we need."
