Former Manchester United star Ruud van Nistelrooy believes England can win the World Cup without Wayne Rooney.

Van Nistelrooy is back in England with Hamburg for tomorrow's Europa League semi at Fulham.

And he said: "There is no one better in England than Wayne in his position.

"Wayne is a massive influence for England and can make the difference - between the quarter-finals and scoring a goal and the semis.

"But if for one reason or another he can't play, you know that Fabio Capello will find a way."
