Park Ji-sung has announced his retirement from professional football.
The 33-year old QPR midfielder, who spent last season on loan with PSV Eindhoven, has pulled the curtain on a successful career which begun back in 2000 at Kyoto Purple Sanga.
The Manchester United great said at the Park Ji-sung Football Centre in Suwon that it was time to end his playing days after battling an ongoing knee injury.
"I didn't cry about it yesterday, and I'm not crying about it today, that means I'm leaving with no regrets," said the former South Korea national team captain.
"I enjoyed playing football. I have achieved more than I have thought I would. I'm truly grateful for all the support I have received and I will live the rest of my life thinking how I can pay it back.
"I thought about getting an operation but even if I did it wouldn't mean the injury would be gone completely. Naturally, retirement was the option."
During his career with United, Park won four Premier League titles, the 2008 Champions League and FIFA Club World Cup, three League Cups and two Community Shields.
With PSV, where he rose to prominence in Europe, he won the Dutch Eredivisie twice and the KNVB Cup on one occasion.
Park also played 100 times for South Korea including appearances at the 2002, 2006 and 2010 World Cups.
