Ex-Man Utd star Pallister backs decision to blood England youngsters

Former England international Gary Pallister has backed the decision by Gareth Southgate to call up youngsters for the Three Lions friendly internationals against Germany and Brazil.

Southgate fielded an experimental side for the game against Germany on Friday which saw the likes of Jordan Pickford, Tammy Abraham and Ruben Loftus-Cheek make their international debuts.

England went on to claim a creditable draw against the 2014 World Cup Champions and Loftus-Cheek was named as man of the match.

Pallister said: "I thought the team put up a good show against Germany."

"I was watching Loftus-Cheek play against Germany and you'd think he had played 20 or 30 games for England. That was a joy to behold and hopefully more players get the chance and we can go into this tournament feeling a bit better about our England team.

"We have been here before. We've had good youngsters coming through. We should let them develop, let them enjoy themselves and let them get used to enjoying international football."
