Former Manchester United and Everton star Andrei Kanchelskis insists foreign imports aren't to blame for England's national team woes.

Now 38 and the sporting director of small Russian club FC Nostra Novotroitsk, Kanchelskis said: "I know in England there is now a lot of talk about whether having so many foreign players and coaches is damaging the national team - and I think it does have a big effect.

"But there are foreign players in every league in the world now and in Russia I think we have an even bigger problem than England. It is much harder for young players to come through in Russia than it was 10 years ago."
