Former Manchester United and Tottenham striker Dimitar Berbatov is being linked with Aston Villa.

The Express & Star says the 35-year-old starred for Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United and also served Fulham, before first heading back overseas for a spell with French side Monaco.

He cut his ties with Greek outfit PAOK Salonika at the end of last season and wants to return to our shores, but accepts it may well be in the Championship.

Newcastle United are thought to have held talks with him, but Villa also offer some name value as a fallen Premier League force looking for instant promotion.
