Former Manchester United No2 Carlos Queiroz is set to take charge of Brazilian giants Vasco da Gama.

Queiroz has been out of work since his dismissal as Portugal coach last year. He had been linked with a return to United.

Vasco is expected to make an announcement tonight when they face rivals Flamengo in the Guanabara Cup, the first stage of the Rio de Janeiro state championship, according to O Globo newspaper.

Vasco, who have won the Brazilian championship four times, have started the season with three straight defeats.
