Rene Meulensteen admits he is happy to have joined Fulham as Martin Jol's new assistant.
The Dutchman, who spent five years working closely with Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United, has been drafted in by the Cottagers in a bid to get the club out of the relegation zone and back up the Premier League table.
Meulensteen was recently linked with Crystal Palace vacancy but has revealed that he never heard anything from the Eagles and is now happy to call Craven Cottage his new home.
"It was to be fairly honest a bit of a surprise to myself that I was strongly linked with Crystal Palace because I never really had formal contact with them so I don't know what happened there," he told Sky Sports News.
"Fulham contacted me quite quickly after I left Manchester United. I didn't really get my head around it at that particular time as there was so much happening and the last five months have been very turbulent for me.
"But I am happy that we finally came to this decision and I am very happy with it."
