Brian Kidd is bidding to revive his managerial career after being placed on a shortlist of eight to take charge at League One Gillingham, says The Mirror.

Former Manchester United assistant Kidd, now No 2 at Sheffield United, is battling with the likes of Martin Allen and Graham Rix for the post.

Kidd spent an ill-fated 11 months as Blackburn boss in 1999, resulting in relegation from the top flight.
