Sir Alex Ferguson's former right-hand man Carlos Queiroz has been removed from his role as Portugal national team boss.
The man who helped the Red Devils to a number of titles in his two stints under Ferguson has been sacked with two years remaining on his Portugal contract.
The Portuguese federation had given Queiroz a one-month ban prior to the World Cup after he spoke poorly of anti-doping doctors, who made a surprise visit to his squad's training camp in May, which was later extended to six months.
But now, the federation has decided to end his tenure which began in July 2008 and are set to install former Sporting Lisbon boss Paulo Bento as his replacement.
