Former Manchester United midfielder Michael Appleton has taken charge at West Bromwich Albion.
The Daily Star says Appleton is in the frame for the permanent job after stepping in following Roberto di Matteo's dismissal.
Technical director Dan Ashworth said: "Appleton has all the coaching badges available, including the UEFA pro licence, and knows the club inside out."
The former midfielder, who will become the top flight's youngest boss, began coaching with Albion more than eight years ago after a knee injury ended his playing career.
