Former Manchester United, Leeds United and Newcastle United striker Alan Smith is joining Notts County.
The Daily Mail says Smith, released last week by MK Dons, will continue his playing career at Meadow Lane where he will also form part of Magpies manager Shaun Derry's coaching staff.
The 33-year-old passed a medical on Monday afternoon and is close to agreeing a one-year contract with the Sky Bet League One club, who narrowly avoided relegation this season.
