Ex-Man Utd, Forest midfielder Stewart a target for Hearts

Michael Stewart has emerged as a strong transfer target for new Heart of Midlothian manager Paulo Sergio.

The 30-year old is a free agent after his short-term contract with Charlton Athletic expired at the end of last season and he could now be on his way back to Tynecastle after departing Hearts for Turkish club Genclerbirligi last summer.

Stewart has been training with another former club, Hibernian, this summer in order to remain fit and reports suggest that talks have opened with Hearts about a possible third return to the Edinburgh club.

Stewart first joined the club on loan from Manchester United, following his short stint at Nottingham Forest, back in 2004.
