Ex-Man Utd, Everton star Neville joins Valencia

Valencia CF have appointed Phil Neville as assistant manager.

The former Manchester United midfielder and Everton captain, 38, has joined Nuno Espirito Santo's coaching staff at the Mestalla, replacing Ian Cathro who is set to join Newcastle United.

Neville, who worked with David Moyes at United, links up with Valencia's majority owner Peter Lim who holds a 50% stake in Salford City FC which is co-owned by Neville, his brother Gary, Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes and Nicky Butt.

Nuno told Valencia's official website: "Phil Neville has great experience at the top level of competition, but above all he has knowledge and values that fit perfectly with our team and our club.

"He has always been a team player, and our philosophy is based on teamwork. We are – and want to continue to be - a group. I am convinced that he is going to help us a lot."
