Former Manchester United defender Kevin Moran is urging Lionel Messi to leave Barcelona. Messi is being linked with Chelsea and Manchester City this week and Moran, who played in Spain with Sporting Gijon, believes the Argie needs a fresh challenge.
He wrote in the Sunday World: "I've a challenge for the great man this morning: take yourself out of the Barcelona comfort zone and try a different country and a different league.
"It's one area where Cristiano Ronaldo has it over Messi. The Portuguese star played in his native Madeira, then went to Sporting Lisbon. He then took a chance as a young player and headed for a completely different world with Manchester United before finally moving on to Real Madrid.
"Messi joined Barcelona as a kid, a jewel the club spotted in Argentina and turned into the wonderful talent he is.
"But Leo, how about trying life with PSG in Paris or with Manchester City in the Premier League, for they are the only two clubs who could pay anything like the transfer fee and wages that you could command?"
