Ex-Man Utd defender Moran: Only Ancelotti, Van Gaal must be considered

Former Manchester United defender Kevin Moran feels his old club needs to go with experience for their next manager.

Moran wrote in the Sunday World: "For me the next Manchester United manager can only be one of two men - Louis van Gaal or Carlo Ancelotti.

"After the disastrous experiment with David Moyes, the United board will want a proven winner in European football, and these two men fit the bill and can be easily secured.

"Van Gaal is available, or will be as soon as Holland's World Cup journey is over. Ancelotti is manager of Real Madrid, but the word is out that he would not mind moving on soon, that he does not like life in Spanish football.

"And remember, Ancelotti, in two seasons, won a Double and an FA Cup with Chelsea - he knows his way around English football. It would not be unknown territory for him.

"For me, those two are the whole field, and I wouldn't be surprised if United's emissaries have spoken to both and perhaps received a list of players each manager would like to buy for next season."
