Ex-Man Utd defender Eckersley set for Toronto stay after Burnley departure

Richard Eckersley is set to return to Toronto FC on a permanent basis after being released by Championship club Burnley.

The 22-year old full-back, who began his career with Manchester United, has had the final 18 months of his contract with the Clarets mutually terminated leaving him free to pursue a career elsewhere.

After impressing on his season-long loan in Toronto last term, reports suggest that Eckersley is set to sign with the Canadian outfit with a permanent deal soon to be complete.
