Former Manchester United and Sunderland defender Wes Brown is ready to sign for Crewe Alexandra.

Brown, 37, has not been offered new terms by Blackburn and will be released on June 30.

He made just eight appearances last season, with only five of those in the Championship.

But the Gresty Road outfit are keen to prolong his playing career with a two-year offer, says The Sun.

Brown, who won the Treble at United in 1999, assisted with Blackburn's Under-23s last term.
