Former Manchester United coach Mike Phelan is in the frame for the West Bromwich Albion job.
The Daily Mail says Phelan and Michael Appleton top the shortlist of West Brom owner Jeremy Peace as he goes in search of a new head coach.
The two former Manchester United men will be among candidates considered to replace Steve Clarke.
Caretaker Keith Downing could be placed in charge for several crucial matches over the holiday period, however, following West Brom's freefall down the Barclays Premier League.
