Ex-Man Utd, Chelsea keeper Bosnich tells Rangers target Ryan: A-League better than SPL!

Former star goalkeeper Mark Bosnich has warned Central Coast Mariners young gun Mathew Ryan about his potential shift to Scottish club Rangers.

The 20-year old A-League Goalkeeper of the Year has had to postpone a 10-day training spell with 'Gers due to injury but could still head over Glasgow to try his luck with Ally McCoist's side.

However, former Manchester United, Chelsea, Aston Villa and Socceroos gloveman Bosnich has urged him not to bother playing in Scotland's Third Division.

"Mat's going for a trial for the right to play Elgin City, Montrose, Clyde and Stirling Albion. It is absolutely ridiculous," said Bosnich.

"This is one of Australia's top talents and he has to go down to the fourth tier of Scottish football?

"The SPL, with the exception of Celtic, who even the Mariners beat two seasons ago, isn't as good as the A-League.

"I don't know what he's thinking. And I don't know what the club is thinking. His management have a lot to answer for if they let him go there."
