Diego Forlan will be the highest paid player in the J.League for the 2014 season.
The Uruguayan striker, who joined Cerezo Osaka on an 18-month deal last month, will earn 346million (£2.02m) Japanese yen this season according to the annual J.League salary ranking.
The former Manchester United, Villarreal, Atletico Madrid and Inter Milan comes in at number one ahead of veteran Brazilian striker Marquinhos, who joined Vissel Kobe from Yokohama F. Marinos in the offseason.
Marquinhos will bring in the same salary of 150million yen (£880,000) as Gamba Osaka and Japan star Yasuhito Endo and Nagoya Grampus defender Marcus Tulio Tanaka.
