Ex-Man City, Toronto mid Dunfield training with Vancouver Whitecaps

Terry Dunfield is back training with the Vancouver Whitecaps but the club admits he is unlikely to re-join.

The 31-year old former Manchester City and Shrewsbury Town midfielder is on the hunt for a new MLS club after being waived by Toronto FC in June and got the chance to train with former club Vancouver on Monday.

Dunfield revealed that he is determined to return to MLS action following a knee injury, but head coach Maritn Rennie says a return to the Whitecaps is doubtful.

"It's great of the organization to give me the opportunity to train," he told reporters. "I enjoyed every minute of it this morning.

"One hundred percent (I want to play MLS again). At the minute, it's just concentrating on training and getting stronger, and I definitely want to get back playing."

Rennie added: "(We are) just helping him out. He's looking to get back to fitness and he's from Vancouver, and we're letting him train here.

"No, I don't think so," Rennie said of a potential deal. "I think we're pretty happy with the players we've got."
