Ex-Man City striker Sibierski breaks silence over daughter's death

Former Manchester City and Wigan Athletic striker Antoine Sibierski has spoken for the first time about the tragic death of his teenage daughter.

Sibylle Sibierski, 18, hanged herself in her Altrincham apartment after a she was arrested by police following a weekend row with her boyfriend, reports the Mirror.

Sibierski, who also played for Newcastle and is now a football agent, said his family had been shattered by the loss.

A statement issued on behalf of Sibierski and his wife Isabelle stated: "Sibylle was a beautiful, intelligent, loving and independent girl.

"Like most girls of her age she was creating her own life away from her parents. In this we fully supported her. We had a normal relationship with our teenage daughter, we had our differences of opinion but the love between us all was strong.

"Sibylle adored her brother and sister. She loved us. She loved her friends. She loved life.

"We cannot understand why our child took her own life. We know that she had been arrested on Sunday for allegedly scratching the face of her boyfriend.

"The day after this she ended her life. We don't believe for a moment that Sibylle meant to leave this world.

"What we do know is that our world has been shattered and will never be the same again.

"We want our beautiful daughter to rest in the peace she deserves."
