Ex-Man City star Owen: Sack Tevez

Former Manchester City star Gary Owen has slammed Carlos Tevez for his refusal to warm-up last night at Bayern Munich.

After this latest showing of petulance Owen believes the club should cut their losses and ditch the sulking, wantaway striker.

"In any other work if you refuse to do your job you would be sacked or you would be suspended without pay," he told talkSPORT.

"He's cut his bridges now, let's say goodbye to him in the January window. Every player has his price, we might have to get rid of him for less money but if there is a club who can cut their losses it's Manchester City.

"Manchester City supporters would have been glad to see the back of the player [in the summer] but because of what he's done at the club over the last two seasons they've forgiven him on numerous times when he's wanted to leave.

"He's never been complimentary about the city he lives in, he actually stated that he'd never come back to Manchester once he'd left. Well he might be getting that wish very shortly.

"Obviously it can't happen until January anyway but I'd be the most surprised person in the world if Roberto Mancini was to make him want to stay.

"One thing for certain is that this will end with Manchester City continuing to go forward with or without Carlos Tevez."
