Former Manchester City, AC Milan and Real Madrid midfielder Robinho has been sentenced to nine years jail in Italy.

Robinho has been sentenced to nine years in prison for sexual assault in 2013.

An Italian court ruled the Brazilian and five others assaulted a 22-year-old Albanian girl in a nightclub, while Robinho was at AC Milan.

Robinho, who did not appear at any of the court hearings pleaded not guilty to the charge via his lawyer.

The other five men were also found guilty in this case.

Robinho has the right to two appeals and the Italian court will only launch extradition proceedings once the legal process is exhausted
