Ex-Man City keeper James backs Dortmund's Klopp as Pellegrini replacement

David James believes Jurgen Klopp would be the ideal replacement for Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini.

The Chilean tactician is constantly being linked with a potential Etihad Stadium exit this summer and if that happens to be the case, former goalkeeper James feels departing Borussia Dortmund manager Klopp would be the perfect man to fill the vacancy considering Pep Guardiola is unlikely to leave Bayern Munich.

"The problems Man City have had, the games they have been losing and the goals they have been conceding, there seems to be a common theme throughout the side," ex-England international James told talkSPORT's 'Hawksbee and Jacobs' program.

"It has been a poor season and I don't think he [Pellegrini] is going to be there next year. If Jurgen Klopp is available, he is your experienced man to take the job, you could argue.

"A lot of people would argue Pep Guardiola would be the ideal replacement, but it is difficult to see him leaving his position at the moment."
