Ex-Man City keeper: Guardiola wrong over Hart

Former Manchester City goalkeeper Nicky Weaver says Pep Guardiola was wrong over his handling of Joe Hart at the start of the season.

Weaver thinks Premier League clubs should be queuing up to take him on next year with Manchester United interested in the on-loan Torino keeper.

“The new manager came in and made his mind up straight away," Weaver, hero of City's 1999 play-off final victory, told the Manchester Evening News.

“The players had been on a six or eight-month trial, if you like, as the new manager was announced in the middle of last season and was probably pencilled in a year or more before that.

“The new manager came in and made a quick decision on Joe and the best thing about it – and I think it was a wrong decision – was that Joe had time to get out rather than be told to stay and fight for his place, and waste a season.

“Joe looked at his options and didn't have many, but he took a brave one by going to Torino and has done well."
