Ex-Man City fullback Edgehill welcomes Sagna deal

Former Manchester City fullback Richard Edgehill has backed their deal for Bacary Sagna.

It's been confirmed the Arsenal defender will join City at the end of the month.

Edgehill told the Manchester Evening News: "By signing Sagna the club are showing that they want to have two top class players in every position. Last season they relied heavily on Zabaleta and Sagna will provide competition on the right.

"I like him, but I don't think he defends as well as Zabaleta. He wants to go forward and is more of an attacking full back.

"Full backs nowadays aren't just defenders, they all seem to want to attack. But that defeats the purpose for me. It's important they know how to defend, otherwise you might as well play a winger there.

"As a free signing, he's a good addition."
